VC248 improves bushfire planning by updating terminology and measures, increasing and clarifying planning permit exemptions for dwellings and other buildings, and updating decision guidelines that apply to the Bushfire Management Overlay. The amendment also inserts decision guidelines for specified development within the bushfire prone area at clause 53.02 Bushfire Planning.
Updated bushfire planning provisions Amendment VC248 gazetted on 5 May 2026 amended the bushfire planning provisions that apply to land within the Bushfire Management Overlay and the bushfire prone area. New guidelines have also been released:
· Bushfire Hazard Assessments· Planning Permit Applications in a Bushfire Management Overlay or Bushfire Prone Area.
